Retroplane 2009
Retroplane 2009 was held in the Republic of Ireland this year. The event was based at Morriscastle Strand campsite near Kilmuckridge, County Wicklow. Flying took place at either Mount Leinster, on a dune at Knocknasilloge just north of Blackwater and aerotowing at a site belonging to Model County Flying Club,( www.modelcountyflyingclub.com ). Retroplane is for scale models of wooden gliders and they have to be built by the flyer. Pilots came from all over Europe, (France, Switzerland, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Italy and Republic of Ireland). John Pearson and Bill Scott attended over the weekend 10 - 13th July. John's photo's can be found here: Retroplane2009 . The pictures on this page are Bill's from his digital camera (film ones to follow when I get them developed!). There are other pics here: Retroplane 2009 The Campsite:

The Fuselage Line Up:
The fuselage "line up" is a fixture at each Retroplane event. This occurred on the Thursday evening
Aerotow Sorry very few pics of the aerotow, as I was playing with the video camera. Video's to follow!
Indoor: Saturday was wet, so we did some indoor flying at a local hall. Not your usual indoor though. Some of the models were normally used outdoors. eg. Easyglider and Eaystar. Along with a Vapor and a shockie. Freeflight and hlg were also flown
On the Hill: Most of my pics I took with the film camera, so I'll load these when developed.
Prizes: No prizes as such, apart from a "best" build prize, but every pilot went home with something, from plans, T-shirts, part kits. All donated by the various sponsors. All in all a very enjoyable event, with good company, excellent models and some great flying (when the weather allowed!) Congratulations to Fred Marie & Joe Doyle for organising a great event. Hope to see you all at the next Retroplane event
