latest update 28/06/2009 *** Frequency Control*** After much "discussion" at the last committee meeting, frequency control at Mallusk this year will be of the "peg on" form. Each flyer will have a peg with their name on and when they want to fly, they place it on the board on the frequency they are transmitting on. Bill will supply each flyer with a peg at the first event of the year and it is then the flyers responsibility to remember to bring it to the field. Please ensure you are sure of what this means BEFORE the first event!!! If in doubt ask a committee member!

Club Chairman! "Negative Lead Corrosion: Until last Wednesday evening this was only something I had read about. I launched my large electric glider and it set off happily towards the entrance gates. It then demonstrated a disconcerting lack of response to control inputs and continued in a gentle descending right-hand turn towards the car park. It just missed the cars and crashed into a tree from which it was fairly gently deposited on the pavement. Lucky Me! On examining the electrics, I thought that my soldered joint between the negative battery lead and 4mm socket had failed, but on cutting off the socket I found that the whole wire part of the lead had been reduced to a sorry black mess! Perhaps in pre-flight checks, we should include a jiggling of the black lead?" Reproduced with the permission of Mike Leonard (Chairman) Wed Night Flying Thermal soaring, either electric or off the winch, will take precedence over all other forms of flight. No electric sport flying of park fliers etc will take place until thermal soaring has finished. This is in accordance with the clubs stated aims of "soaring" and the decision from the 2006 AGM I've just been advised that the Retroplane event for Vintage Gliders will take place in the Republic of Ireland from the 12th to 27th July 2009. I know this seems along time away but BUILDING a scale vintage model takes time and this event has a "builder of the model" rule. Full information on types of model allowed, accommodation and photos of previous events can be found by clicking on the above logo, which will take you to the Retroplane website. There was an article on the 2007 event in the September issue of QEFI
